ResQFlare PRO eVDSD

 
As the next advancement in electronic flares, the ResQFlare PRO is an Electronic Visual Distress Signal Device (eVDSD) and provides cutting edge SOS distress signaling LED technology.  This eVDSD is intended as an alternate to traditional pyrotechnic flares and eliminates many of the deficiencies inherent with pyrotechnic devices including:

• Safety hazards (burn/flame hazard),
• Waterproof or special storage requirements,
• Hazardous transport & disposal, and
• limited storage life and operational life.

In addition to addressing the pyrotechnic deficiencies, the eVDSD also provides simpler activation/use and extended service life with lower total cost of ownership over the extended service life. Meeting the requirements of RTCM 13200.0, the buoyant ResQFlare PRO electronic flare emits the International Morse Code flash characteristic for S-O-S, where the first “S” is represented by three red-orange flashes, followed by the “O” which is represented by three cyan flashes, and the final “S” which is represented by another three red-orange flashes. The use of red-orange and cyan LEDs allows for enhanced visibility on the water.  Simultaneous to the visible flashing LEDs, an IR component flashes the same S-O-S pattern and is optimized for visibility by Search & Rescue operators using night vision equipment. Even with the extensive number of visible and IR flashes occurring, the high level of light intensity produced over a significant light distribution range (Luminous angle ≥ 180°), the ResQFlare PRO attains an impressive operational life of at least three hours. Operational life can be extended by replacing batteries.

Sold with the included daytime distress flag, the ResQFlare PRO and accompanying flag are certified to meet the applicable U.S. Coast Guard requirements allowing them to be carried in lieu of traditional pyrotechnic flares in the U.S for recreational boats less than 65 feet in length when operating on the Great Lakes, within 12 miles of U.S. waters, or on any body of water with a passageway to the sea at least two miles wide.

• USCG Approved 161.013 (Nighttime Visual Distress Signal) and meets the requirements of RTCM 13200 for eVDSD.
• Includes Distress Flag (Certified under USCG 160.072 as Daytime Visual Distress Signal), mounting bracket, and 1 meter lanyard.
• Bright light in all directions (360° visibility and luminous angle ≥ 180°).
• Automatically rights itself and floats when in the water and is visible over 8 miles.
• User replaceable batteries (replace annually), requires 8 each 123 lithium batteries, not included - see item 45205-3V.
• Maximum Light Intensity > 170 cd.
• Average Effective Light Intensity of 50 cd.
• Operational life of 3 hours (at a minimum of 50 cd average effective light intensity) exceeds RTCM requirements by 50%.
• Durable design has been tested to applicable environmental performance standards and is waterproof (IP67).
